GREAT FALLS, Mont. -- Aubrie Rademacher and
Liv Wangerin scored 17 points each,
Hallie Neibauer added 10 off the bench, and the Montana Tech women's basketball team earned a key 73-66 Frontier Conference win at University of Providence Thursday evening.
The Orediggers (15-8, 6-4 Frontier) snapped a 10-game losing streak at Providence in the process.
It wasn't always a certainty. After Tech went ahead early, the Argos stormed back with a 12-0 run to end the first quarter. UP led 22-12 after 10 minutes.
Montana Tech wasted no time getting back into the game. The Diggers ripped off a 14-1 run of their own, tying the game with a Wangerin 3 and retaking the lead on
Macy Mayer's layup with 3:48 until the halftime break. Tech held onto the advantage, leading 34-31 at the game's midway point.
Providence stayed in the game, retaking the lead midway through the third. A
Kia Wasson jumper just before the quarter break tied the game at 49, sending the teams into a deciding fourth period.
The teams traded leads several times early in the final stanza, but Tech took the lead for good with 1:39 remaining on a
Hadley Humphreys layup. The Diggers finished the game on a 10-2 run to seal the victory.
Wangerin finished with eight rebounds to go with her 17 points. Humphreys had five assists and six points.
Taliah Lee led Providence (15-7, 5-5) with 15 points and seven rebounds.
The Orediggers continue their roadtrip in north-central Montana Saturday with a trip to Montana State University-Northern. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m.
