HELENA -- Montana Tech redshirt freshman
Justin Webber made a pair of timely interceptions Saturday in the No. 7-ranked Orediggers' 34-23 victory over Rocky Mountain.
Monday, he landed the Erck Hotels/Frontier Conference defensive player of the week award for his efforts.
Webber, a cornerback from Pasco, Wash., brought the first of his two interceptions back 36 yards for a second-quarter touchdown that made it 20-0 in Montana Tech's favor. The second came late in the fourth quarter, setting the Oredigger offense up to run out the clock.
He also made four tackles and broke up a pass in the secondary.
It was part of a clean sweep of the weekly superlatives for Tech's football program. Running back
Wykece Johnson won the award on the offensive side of the ball, and defensive back
Jace Thompson took the special teams honor.
Montana Tech (3-0) will put its unblemished record on the line Saturday at noon Pacific, 1 p.m. Mountain time at No. 24-ranked Southern Oregon.
