BELLEVUE, Neb. -- The 19th-ranked Montana Tech volleyball team saw its seven-match win streak snapped Friday evening, dropping a 25-19, 25-16, 25-18 decision at No. 5 Bellevue in the two programs' first-ever meeting as Frontier Conference foes.
Payton Treadwell led the Orediggers (9-3, 5-1 Frontier) with six kills, while Emmy Green made a match-high 16 digs. Setters Rhys Layton and Ellie Reinertson combined for 22 assists.
Bellevue got the match started with a 10-3 run to open the first set and never looked back en route to the early advantage. In the second, Montana Tech moved to a 5-4 lead before another Bruins run, this one of nine straight points, set the home team comfortably ahead.
The Bruins (9-2, 5-1) again jumped ahead in the third, but Tech trimmed the deficit to a single point at 10-9 following a Talan Dodson kill. BU regained control with a 4-0 run and rolled to the sweep.
Montana Tech won't have long to wait for the opportunity to begin a new win streak. The Orediggers head to Madison, S.D. for a Frontier clash with Dakota State Saturday at 1 p.m. Mountain, 2 p.m. Central time.
