MAYVILLE, N.D. -- The 21st ranked Montana Tech volleyball team got the Frontier Conference schedule started on a high note Friday evening, topping Mayville State, 25-18, 25-18, 25-19 inside Lewy Lee Fieldhouse.
Senior
Emmy Green totaled a team-best 14 digs and four aces, senior
Kinnidi Willmore piled up 14 kills, and freshman
Ellie Reinertson and junior
Rhys Layton combined for 36 assists in the sweep.
The Orediggers (5-2, 1-0 Frontier) played a close first set before pulling away late with a 7-2 run for the early advantage. The second was much of the same before a Green service barrage sparked another late run, including three aces from the libero.
Tech then finished the match by building an early lead and holding on for the victory.
Montana Tech continues its opening weekend of conference play Saturday at 1 p.m. at Valley City State.
