MADISON, S.D. -- Despite double-figure scoring efforts from
Brooke Badovinac and
Halle Haber, the No. 12-ranked Montana Tech dropped a 73-56 decision to No. 7 Dakota State Friday evening on the road.
The Orediggers jumped out to a 4-0 lead, but Dakota State responded to lead 12-10 after a quarter of play. By halftime, the Trojans (15-3, 10-2 Frontier Conference) led 31-20.
Montana Tech (14-2, 10-2) cut the deficit back to single digits with the first basket of the second half, but DSU punched back with a 7-0 run and never again led by fewer than 10 points.
Badovinac scored 12 of her 14 points in the second half, and
Liv Wangerin scored all nine of her points after the break.
Haber added eight rebounds, four assists, and two blocks, all team highs, to her tally.
Tabor Teal and Bria Wasmund scored 17 points each to lead the way for Dakota State.
The loss snapped Montana Tech's nine-game win streak. The Orediggers will look to start another one Saturday at Bellevue. Tip is scheduled for 4 p.m. Mountain time, 5 Central.
