LONG BEACH, Calif. -- Jaxon Allery and
Morgan McClernan each took part in two record-breaking performances Saturday, leading the way for the Montana Tech track & field teams as the Orediggers competed in a pair of meets.
Allery broke the Montana Tech record in the men's 100-meter dash and led off the Orediggers' 4x100m relay, which set the program's first-ever NAIA 'B' qualifying standard in the event and ranks 16th in the NAIA this season.
The freshman from Missoula teamed with
Matthew Moreni, McClernan, and
Zach Merrifield to race the 4x100m in 41.01 seconds, meeting the NAIA national standard on the dot with a new program-best time. The Oredigger relay finished seventh and tops among NAIA competition in the event.
Allery also raced the 100m dash in a Montana Tech-best 10.57 seconds to finish eighth.
McClernan also reached an NAIA 'B' standard individually. The senior raced the 110m hurdles in 14.31 seconds to top his own program record in the race, finishing sixth. The time moved him up to No. 6 on the national leaderboard for the season.
Meanwhile, back in the Treasure State, the rest of the Montana Tech teams headed to Helena for Carroll College's Trudnowski Open.
Aidan Dorr led the way for the Oredigger men with a pair of event victories. The sophomore won the 100m dash in 11.39 seconds and the 200m in 23.18.
