DICKINSON, N.D. -- Montana Tech's track & field teams have scored their first points of the 2026 Frontier Conference outdoor championship meet.

Ayla Janzen finished third in the women's heptathlon, and a trio of Oredigger men placed in the decathlon Sunday and Monday as the combined events got championship season started at the Blue Hawk Games, hosted by Dickinson State. Evan Kinley took fourth, Jacob Dolezal placed fifth, and Cameron

Janzen, competing in her first-career multi, scored 4,528 points on her way to the bronze metal and six points toward the Orediggers' quest for a fifth-straight Frontier title. The sophomore's best performances came on the track, where she was second in both the 100-meter hurdles (14.74 seconds) and 200m dash (25.70) in personal-best times. She also took third in the 800m (2:34.53), another PR.

Her score ranks second on Montana Tech's all-time leaderboard only behind three-time All-American and now-assistant coach Abby Clark. The score puts Janzen 13th in the NAIA this season in the multi and in a good spot to qualify for the national meet; the top 16 scores in the nation get invited.

Kinley set a new Oredigger record in his decathlon, scoring 5,904 points. The sophomore finished second in two events, the 200m dash (50.95) and 1,500m run (4:46.73) to bolster his score. He also topped the 600-point mark in two other events — 100m dash (11.67, 717 points) and high jump (1.78m, 610 points).

Kinley's total eclipsed Dolezal's program record of 5,779 from a season ago and ranks 24th in the NAIA this season.

Dolezal, another sophomore, also earned a podium finish in the decathlon. The Kalispell native was third in the 17-man field in both the 100m dash (11.54) and 110m hurdles (16.09). He finished with 5,718 points in sum.

Junior Cameron Tobiness took eighth with 5,419 points, a career-best. His highest point total came in the pole vault, where he was fourth at 4.30m for 702 points. He was also third in the high jump at 1.87m.

Montana Tech will head to Missoula Saturday for the Montana Open in the final tune-up before the Frontier Conference outdoor championships.
