HELENA -- Twelve Montana Tech men's track & field student-athletes landed All-Frontier Conference laurels for their performances at last weekend's Frontier outdoor championship meet, the league office announced this week.

The Orediggers also broke four championship records at the meet in Dickinson, N.D. in a come-from-behind effort for the team championship. Tech's team scored 28 points in the final three events of the meet to claim victory.

Senior Morgan McClernan highlighted the list for the Orediggers as the track athlete of the meet, while Tech coach Chuck Merrifield won the coach of the year honor.

McClernan, a senior from Butte, claimed the top track honors after winning the 110-meter hurdles (in a meet-record 13.97 seconds, the third-best time in the NAIA this season) and the 4x100m relay, while also placing in the 400m hurdles and 4x400m relay. His anchor leg on the latter relay secured the Orediggers second in the race and the team title at the meet.

Allery, a freshman from Missoula, won the 100m dash with a meet-record 10.14-second run (The race did not measure on the NAIA national leaderboard due to the tailwind.) and anchored the 4x100m relay, which also set a meet record in 41.21 seconds.

Crum, a freshman from Helena, took second in the javelin in his first collegiate semester of competition.

Dorr, a sophomore from Gillette, Wyoming, led off the Orediggers' record-breaking 4x100m relay to earn his first-career all-conference honor.

Henke, a junior from Mountain Home, Idaho, raced on Tech's meet-clinching 4x400m relay.

Fanning, a sophomore from Three Forks, turned in a third-place finish in the 5,000m run to fuel the team's comeback.

Gregerson, a senior from Laurel, also ran on the 4x400m relay, running the third leg to help Tech clinch victory.

Moreni, a sophomore from Helena, took third in the 200m dash and ran the second leg on the conference-champion 4x100m relay.

Schrader, a junior from Columbia Falls, was third in the 400m hurdles and opened up the 4x400m relay.

Voermans, a freshman from Columbia Falls, sparked the Orediggers' late comeback with a third-place result in the discus.

Williams, a freshman from Noxon, tied for the meet record in the high jump, clearing 2.01m to take second.

Zerr, a senior from Kailua, Hawaii, was all-conference in both the 10,000m and 5,000m runs.

Merrifield, in his second season as the Orediggers' head coach, led Montana Tech to its third conference title in the past four seasons and its first on the men's side in his tenure.

Montana Tech will take one last stab at national-qualifying marks Friday in Bozeman at Montana State's Tom Gage Classic before beginning preparation for the NAIA outdoor championships later this month.
