Lady Diggers Win Opener

Lewiston, Idaho – The Lady Orediggers opened the Frontier Conference season with a win Saturday night. Montana Tech downed Lewis-Clark State 60-55.

The Lady Diggers (6-4, 1-0) win their first game road game of the year downing the Warriors for the first time in Lewiston since 2010.

Lewis-Clark (3-12, 0-2) stay winless in conference action.

Tech trailed by one at the break. The Warriors had a small lead twice in the second half, but Tech surpassed L-C with 4:14 left in the game on a Dannii Devenny three pointer. The Diggers would control the final minutes of the game for the win.

The Orediggers shot 82.4-percent from the free throw line in the game.

Junior center Kelsey DeWit led the Diggers with 19 points. DeWit shot 6 of 11 from the field and a perfect 7 for 7 from the free throw line. The conference block leader had three swats in the game in addition to eight rebounds and two assists.

Devenny turned in a double-double scoring 12 and grabbing 11 boards. She also had four assists and a pair of steals.

Annie Kane led the Warriors with 24 points.

The Lady Diggers travel to Las Vegas after Christmas. The team plays three games in the Las Vegas Holiday Shootout.
