The Lady Diggers hit the road again this week when they travel north to Great Falls and Havre. They take on the University of Great Falls Argo on Wednesday night and will be at MSU-Northern on Thursday.
Montana Tech (11-6, 1-4) is currently in a slide. They have lost the last four conference games after defeating Western in the conference opener.
The Argos (11-8, 2-3) lost last week at Western after winning their last two matches against Westminster and Rocky Mountain.
MSU-Northern (10-9, 4-1) has been surprising teams this year. They won their first four conference matches, including the conference opener against Carroll who was ranked No. 15 at the time, before falling to Westminster last week. The Lights are second in the Frontier Conference standings.
Freshman
Kimmy Kavran continues to dominate the back court. She currently leads the conference and the nation in total digs (490) and digs per game (7.4). Last week she had 39 against No. 25 Carroll and 32 at Rocky. The next closest netter in digs is Carroll's Catie Hanser with 272.
Kavran is on pace to break more records this year. She tied and broke the record for most digs in a match earlier this season. The current record is now 43 by Kavran which she attained against Westminster earlier this year. The record for most digs in a season is 608 by Kaila Minehan in 2002.
Setter
Alison Lunde leads the conference in assists (688) and assists per set (10.4). The freshman is ranked 11th and 19th nationally in those categories.
Senior outside hitter
Shersteen Cline is leading the team in kills (192) and kills per set (3.2). Freshmen
Sydney Norris is just behind Cline in kills (189) and kills per set (3.1).
The team returns home October 5th and 6th. They host University of Great Falls next Friday and No. 25 Carroll on Saturday.
