BUTTE – The Orediggers fought the whole game, but came up short against the Battlin' Bears Thursday night falling 63-55.
Montana Tech (14-13, 5-8) loses their third straight game.
Rocky Mountain (16-11, 7-6) wins their third straight contest.
The Orediggers trailed by as many as eight in the first half, but cut the lead to just one at the break. Rocky took a 32-31 lead into the locker room at half.
Roman Pruneda-Garza dropped 10 in the first half helping the team hit 42.9-percent from the field.
Tech would pull within three with 12:18 to play in the game off a Dan Simon layup.
Rocky's Malachi Roberts would hit back-to-back threes to pull ahead 51-42 with 10:41 to play.
The Orediggers would continue to chip away at the lead, but couldn't quite take the lead. Rocky would extend their lead just
out of Tech's reach when time expired.
Adam Greger led Tech with 15 points, six rebounds and a block.
Simon chipped in14 points adding six rebounds and two assists.
Joel Barndt and Jeremy Nicolas each had 18 points for the Bears.
Montana Tech is home again tomorrow night for their final regular season home game. The Orediggers host Dickinson State at 7:30 p.m. at the HPER Complex.
