HELENA -- The Frontier Conference honored Montana Tech men's basketball junior Connor Michaud as its NAIA Emil S. Liston Scholarship Award nominee, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon. 

The conference's nomination makes Michaud eligible for the NAIA's national Emil S. Liston Award, which recognizes two outstanding junior basketball student-athletes — one male and one female — for their athletic and academic achievements. 

Michaud, a forward from Missoula, played in all 32 games for the Orediggers in 2025-26, averaging 4.2 points and 2.4 rebounds per game. He helped Montana Tech reach a fifth-straight NAIA national tournament, where Tech won a game and finished the season with a 23-9 record. 

He holds a 3.59 grade-point average in his biological sciences major and is very active in the campus community outside of basketball.  

Michaud serves on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, where his volunteer efforts have impacted the semiannual blood drive, Techspy athletic awards, and other campus initiatives. He has also volunteered with Walk to School with a Digger Day and local youth camps. 

The Emil S. Liston Scholarship Award, named in honor of the NAIA's first executive secretary and the prime mover behind the men's basketball tournament, recognizes one junior men's and one junior women's basketball student-athlete who has shown high athletic and academic achievement.  The winners will be announced on NAIA Awards Day, which is September 15.
