Box Score BUTTE, Mont. - Montana Tech first-year head coach
Carly VanDyke and the women's basketball team picked up their first win of the 2014-15 season with a coinvincing 86-59 victory over the visiting College of Idaho Lady Yotes Thursday night.
The Diggers shot an astounding .500 percent from the field and hit 11 shots from behind the arc. Tech was solid on the glass outrebounding the Lady Yotes 48-28.
Tech (1-0), had four players score in double figures including senior
Mandy Machinal who had a game-high 20 points. Forward
Kabri Emerson had a double-double with 12 points and 10 boards. While transfer
Kayla DeWitt added 17 points and seven rebounds in her first game in an Oredigger uniform. Sophomore
Hattie Thatcher filled the box sheet with seven points, four rebounds, nine assists and three steals.
With the lost College of Idaho falls to 0-1 on the season. The Lady Yotes were led by Aleah Lowber who had a team-high 11 points.
Tech returns to action Saturday when they head to Dickinson, N.D. for a 5:30 p.m. matchup against the Blue Hawks.
