BUTTE, Mont. –
Jalen Coates and
Paul Engstrom combined to score 39 points leading Montana Tech (3-0) over Northwest Indian College, 91-75.
Coates, a sophomore from Sacramento, was a smooth 9-of-12 from the floor and 3-of-4 from behind the arc. The 5-9 guard also had a team-high seven assists and two steals in the victory.
Senior
Paul Engstrom had his third consecutive double-double scoring 15 points and collecting 11 rebounds in 31 minutes of action.
Montana Tech overcame a slow start in the first half when they shot just 1-of-6 from downtown on the way to a 41-33 lead at the break. The Orediggers shot an efficient 16-of-27 from the floor and 5-of-9 from three point land in the second half.
Flemming Okeke scored 12 points and grabbed nine rebounds while
Carson Dummer and
Lukas Vining each tallied nine markers in the winning effort.
John Chapman,
Kale Guldseth, and
Cruz Ginns Jr. each added six points apiece.
Dylan Haddix added four points and four boards in his Digger debut.
Austin Miller scored a team-high 15 points for the Eagles.
The Orediggers improve to 3-0 on the season and remain a perfect 6-0 under Coach O'Herron in the month of October.
Montana Tech faces NWIC again tomorrow at 7:30 p.m.
