POCATELLO, Idaho – In an exhibition matchup with Idaho State, Montana Tech fell 103-65 to the Division I opponent.
The Tigers jumped out quickly and ran up the score in the first half 54-25. The second half was a closer effort with Tech scoring 40 in the stanza.
Tech shot just 32.1 percent from the field and 23.1 percent from beyond the arc.
Jalen Coates led the Diggers with 22 points on 8 of 16 shooting. Coates had 3 rebounds and a pair of assists.
Paul Engstrom turned in a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds.
Montana Tech returns home next weekend. The Orediggers host Yellowstone Christian College at 4 p.m. on Kelvin Sampson Court Saturday.
