Box Score HELENA, Mont. – The Saints came out hot in the second half halting the Orediggers 72-63.

Carroll College (1-0, 5-2) hands Montana Tech (0-1, 5-5) their fifth straight loss.

Zach Taylor led the Saints with 21 points, scoring 19 in the second half.

The Orediggers took a slim 31-30 lead into the break. There were 14 lead changes in the first half with Carroll holding the largest lead of the half at four points.

The Orediggers shot 40 percent from the field and hit 2 of 7 from beyond the arc. Jalen Coates made both three pointers for the Diggers scoring nine in the half.

The Saints shot 37 percent from the floor but couldn't find the basket from long going 0-5 in the first half. They finished the game shooting 41.8 percent and went 3 of 11 from three.

The Saints opened the second half with a 20-3 run leading 50-34 with 12:15 to play. The Orediggers chipped away at the Saints coming within six 59-53 with 4:40 to go in the game, but the Saints pulled away in the final minutes.

Paul Engstrom led the Orediggers with 21 points shooting 9 of 13. He finished with seven rebounds.

Coates finished with 19 points hitting 7 of 15 from the field.

Flemming Okeke had a team high 8 rebounds.

Montana Tech hosts No. 13 Lewis-Clark State on Saturday for the conference home opener. Tipoff is slated for 7:30 p.m.
