Box Score BUTTE, Mont. – The Orediggers rallied late into the second half, but fell short against No. 14 Carroll College 89-77.
Montana Tech (6-14, 1-7) dug themselves a hole in the first half. A cold start had the Diggers down 27-6 with 10 minutes left in the first frame. Tech worked their way back to 46-28 going into the break.
Carroll hit a staggering 20 for 26 from the field in the first half and 4 for 6 from three point range. They finished the game shooting 63.3 percent from the field and 70 percent from three.
The Orediggers mounted a 17-2 run pulling within seven points of the Saints, but that would be as close as they could get.
Jalen Coates led Tech with 20 points, 15 coming in the second half. He added three rebounds, two assists and three steals to his totals.
Senior
Paul Engstrom had 12 points and led the team at the glass with seven boards.
Freshman Lucas Vining had 15 points and four rebounds.
Center Match Burnham had a game high 22 points. Zach Taylor had 19 points.
Ryan Imhoff had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Montana Tech travels to Dillon on Thursday against Montana Western.
