BUTTE, Mont. – The Orediggers hung on through three quarters, but the Northern Lights turned up the heat at the end coming away with a 77-55 victory.
Montana State Northern (17-5, 6-5) wins the second game of the season against Montana Tech (6-16, 2-9).
The Orediggers trailed by one at halftime, 28-27, and 46-40 at the end of three. Northern outscored Tech 31-15 in the final frame.
The Lights shot 57.4 percent from the field in the game, including a blistering 69.2 percent in the second half.
The Orediggers struggled from three point range hitting just 3 of 19.
Hattie Thatcher led the Diggers with 15 points, four rebounds and three assists.
Martha Dembek was the only other Tech player in double-digits with 11 points. She also had five rebounds.
Jacy Thompson had 24 points shooting 8 of 14 from the field and 2 for 3 from long.
Sierra Richards hit 7 of 10 from the field netting 16 points and grabbing six rebounds.
Butte native Natalee Faupel had 15 points and five boards.
Montana Tech is home again Saturday when they host No. 23 University of Great Falls Argos.
