BUTTE, Mont. – Hot handed University of Great Falls shot over 50 percent in the 89-75 victory over Montana Tech Saturday night.

Argo senior Erin Legel scored 21 of her 28 points in the first half hitting 8 for 12 from the field and 4 for 6 from beyond the arc. She also made 8 of 9 from the charity stripe.

Great Falls finished the game completing 51.8 percent from the field and 8 of 11 from three point range.

The Orediggers did not go lightly. Despite trailing 49-33 at halftime, Montana Tech opened the third quarter with a 17-4 run and a 55-50 deficit with 6:12 to go in the quarter. But the Argos expanded their lead in the final half of the third frame leading 67-56 going into the fourth. That would be as close as the Orediggers would get to the Argos the rest of the game.

Montana Tech finished the game shooting 41.3 percent from the field and shot 8 for 20 from long.

Martha Dembek led the Diggers with 20 points shooting 4 for 10 from three. She also had four rebounds and three steals.

Hattie Thatcher had 12 points, six assists, four rebounds and a pair of steals.

Frontier leading scorer Nneka Nnadi had 16 points shooting 5 for 7 from the field and 5 of 6 from the line.  

Montana Tech is on the road in Helena next Thursday when they take on Carroll College. Tipoff is slated for 5:30 p.m.
