BUTTE- Montana Tech had their chances against the No. 2 Carroll College Fighting Saints but struggled shooting in the second half falling, 56-41.
In a back and forth battle that saw the score get tied up three times Montana Tech held Carroll College to just 25 first half points. The Diggers trailed Carroll College 25-21 at the end of 20 minutes after a Ryan Imhoff buzzer beater to end the frame.
Montana Tech struggled shooting the ball in the second half going just 1-for-13 from three point land. The Diggers pulled within four points, 41-37, at the seven minute mark but Carroll closed out the contest at the free throw line.
The Saints were 9-for-12 from the free throw line while Montana Tech didn't go to the stripe once.
The Diggers were led in scoring and rebounding by
Trent Molesworth who had 14 and seven. Chris O'Neill added 11 and
Jake Miles scored six.
Tech finished the night shooting 32 percent from the floor and 3-for-20 from downtown.
The Diggers fall to 8-7 overall and 0-4 in Frontier Conference play. Montana Tech travels to Billings to face Rocky Mountain College on Saturday night.
