Tech Men Upset No. 17 Saints

BUTTE, Mont.- Montana Tech got the rivalry victory they've been waiting for on Tuesday night defeating No. 17 Carroll College 74-66 at Kelvin Sampson Court.

The Orediggers (15-11, 7-8 Conf.) hung tough with Carroll College throughout the night in a back-and-forth contest and went into the half tied with the Fighting Saints at 34-all.

Montana Tech, who snapped a 5-game losing streak, was led in scoring by Sindou Diallo's 24 points while Drew Huse added 17 points and Cody Baumstarck scored 14. Oredigger big man Taylor England scored 9 points, grabbed 6 rebounds, and blocked 3 shots. Troy Owens Jr. scored 7 points and Dylan Pannabecker added three.

"We had many guys step up tonight when we needed it," said Montana Tech head coach Adam Hiatt. "Cody Baumstarck had his best game of his career, Drew Huese made big plays tonight in the game, and Troy Owens Jr. was phenomenal defensively. We have been playing well for 90% of our games in our recent slump, but have failed to finish games. Tonight we did. I'ts a great night to be a Digger."

The Orediggers shot 50% from the floor in the victory while the Saints shot 43.8%. Jovan Sljivancanin's 19 points led the Saints.

Montana Tech returns to action on Thursday night when they play No. 5 Lewis-Clark State at 7:30 p.m.
