BUTTE, Mont.- Montana Tech did something that hasn't happened in a very long time on Thursday night at Kelvin Sampson Court, they handed No. 3 Lewis-Clark State a loss.
Montana Tech (16-11, 8-8 Conf.) snapped Lewis-Clark State's 16-game winning streak in the 67-64 final. Lewis-Clark State hadn't suffered a loss since December 6th.
"What an incredible performance by our team. To send our two seniors, Dylan and Troy, out like that is just fantastic," said head coach
Adam Hiatt. "After all the devastating losses we have experienced this year, to end the year at home beating the No. 17 and the No. 3 ranked teams on successive nights is amazing."
The Orediggers got it done behind a balanced performance that saw every Oredigger that hit the floor score.
Taylor England's 14 point and 11 rebound game led the way for Montana Tech.
Sindou Diallo finished with 13 points while
Drew Huse added 12.
Dylan Pannabecker scored 8,
Troy Owens Jr. scored 7,
Cody Baumstarck scored 6,
Christian Jones added 5, and
Connor Kieckbusch scored 2.
Montana Tech shot 44% from the field and went 19-for-26 from the free throw line. Lewis-Clark State shot an efficient 44% on the night.
Lewis-Clark State was led in scoring by Jake Albright who tallied 15 points.
The Orediggers hit the road to take on Montana Western in Dillon next Thursday night at 7:30 p.m.
