HAVRE, Mont.- A cold stretch in the third quarter proved the difference as the Diggers fell to the Skylights 67-53 on Sunday afternoon.
The Diggers (4-6, 4-6 Conf.) were outscored 17-9 in the second quarter and 18-11 in the third quarter as Montana Tech struggled offensively shooting just 27 percent and 35 percent.
Montana Tech finished the game shooting 35.2% from the floor and was led in scoring by
Dani Urick who tallied 22 points on 6-of-9 shooting. Urick was a perfect 8-for-8 from the foul line.
Mesa Williams and
Mollie Peoples scored nine,
Celestina Faletoi added six,
Madison Allen scored four,
Aubrie Rademacher scored two, and
Soda Rice added one for the Orediggers.
Northern was led by Tiara Gilham's 21 points and nine rebounds. The win snapped a seven game losing streak for the Skylights.
Montana Tech travels to Helena next Saturday to take on the Fighting Saints.
