Off Week
The Orediggers were off last weekend after the Montana Western series in Dillon was canceled due to conference COVID-19 protocols.
Last Time
The Orediggers suffered two losses to then No. 20 University of Providence March 19-20. The first match went to five after the Orediggers forced the final frame with dominant play in the second and fourth sets. The Argos won out scoring the final five points . Tech hit for .209 in the match and finished with 15 team blocks.
Karina Mickelson had a season high 24 kills hitting .354 in the match. Mo Jessop had 12 kills.
Sydney Parks and
Taylor Henley combined for 19 kills and 14 blocks.
The Orediggers played point-for-point Saturday, but couldn't finish the Argos losing 3-0. Mickelson again led the Oredigger attack with 10 kills. Henley had a solid match finishing with 9 kills and a .304 hitting percentage to go with 5 blocks.
Scouting the Saints
The Saints matches against Rocky Mountain were canceled last weekend due to COVID-19 protocols. The Saints split with Montana State Northern the previous weekend.
The Saints are led by junior outside Taelyr Krantz who leads the Frontier Conference in hitting percentage with a .315. Krantz has 534 kills averaging 3.4 per set. Outside hitter Lexi Mikkelsen is averaging 3.1 kills per set with 195 on the season. Julia Carr is averaging 5.3 digs per set.
Against the Saints
The Orediggers suffered two losses to the Saints in Helena earlier this season. The Saints topped the Orediggers 3-1 in the first match and 2-0 in the second.
Karina Mickelson had 25 kills in the two matches.
Taylor Henley had 20 kills and 3 blocks.
Top Hitter
Karina Mickelson continues to impress as she leads the Frontier Conference in kills per set averaging 3.8. Mickelson is second in the conference in total kills with 237. Mickelson a season high 24 kills on Friday in the five-set thriller to Providence notched 34 kills on the weekend.
Block Leaders
Taylor Henley had 14 blocks in two matches against the Argos last weekend. Henley now leads the conference in blocks per set with a 1.1 average and is second with 66 total blocks.
Sydney Parks had 6 blocks on the weekend and ranks third in the conference in blocks per set (1.1) and total blocks (65).
Karina Mickelson is 10th in the league with 0.7 blocks per set and 41 total blocks.
Helping Hand
Mckenna Kaelber had 75 assists in two matches against Providence. The sophomore setter is third in the conference in assists per set averaging 8.8 with 433 on the season.
