SPOKANE, Wash. – Montana Tech track and field ran in the 15
th Annual Sam Adams Classic hosted by Whitworth University over the weekend. The Orediggers ran in a crowded field including NCAA Division I schools.
"Saturday in Spokane was a beautiful day with great competition," said Head Coach
Zach Kughn. "I'm so glad we were able to provide this opportunity to our athletes and even happier they were able to capitalize on it."
Becca Richtman posted the fastest time in the NAIA and NCAA Division II in the 3,000m Steeplechase. Richtman finished first with a time of 10:34.54. Richtman qualified for the NAIA National Championship in Gulf Shores, Alabama at the end of May.
"Becca continues to impress running the number one time in the nation with a dominating win in her first steeple in two years," said Kughn.
Riley Crissman took second place in the 10,000m with a time of 37:59.33. Crissman also qualified for the NAIA National Championship.
"It was Riley who really stole the show, she just went off in the 10K and set our whole team's day up for success. I've never seen a better 10k and I know our team has never had more excitement watching someone run 25 laps on a track. I can't wait to see what she does in Gulf Shores."
River Sheppard ran his first 3,000m Steeplechase finishing 7
th with a time of 10:03.95. The mark is the 22
nd fastest in the NAIA this year.
Madison Kelly and
Karolyna Buck both posted PRs in the 1500m. Kelly finished with a time of 5:07.22 and Buck finished 5:19.60.
