GULF SHORES, Alabama - Montana Tech seniors
Riley Crissman and
Becca Richtman compete at the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) National Championship this week.
"We are excited to have two people representing Montana Tech at a national championship in our first year as a program," said Head Coach
Zach Kughn.
Crissman runs in the 10,000m tonight a 9:30 p.m. eastern time. Crissman is the 19th seed in the event.
Richtman, who holds the second fastest time in the NAIA this season, runs in the preliminary 3,000m steeple chase tonight at 8:40 p.m. and the 5,000m preliminary Thursday at 7:45 p.m. Richtman is the 7th seed in the 5,000m. Both finals are set for Friday.
The top eight in each event are named to the NAIA All-America teams.
"Riley and Becca have both put in an incredible block of training this past month since our conference championship. I've been proud that neither one of them has settled for just qualifying for nationals, they have really been driven to train hard and come down here and compete. We've taken the steps to prepare for the heat and humidity and we always like coming down to sea level from altitude. They are ready, I can't wait to watch them race."
