BILLINGS, Mont. – The Montana Tech track & field teams are out front after the first day of the Frontier Conference Championships hosted by Rocky Mountain College at Lockwood Track. Both the Oredigger men and women led going into today's action on the track after scoring points in the multis and 3000 meter steeplechase prior to today. Tech continued their fast pace out of the blocks leading at the end of today.
The women won five of the ten events today, including the 4x100 meter relay, and lead second place Carroll College 108 to 55.50. Providence is in third with 48.50 points followed by Rocky Mountain and Western.
The Oredigger men won four events and lead the Saints 108.33 to 80.33. Rocky is in third with 28.2 points as Providence and Western fall in the next two places.
Both squads won the 4x100 meter relay. The women's team is
Mollee Conlan,
Jadyn Vermillion,
Emily Ratz, and Natylia Jacobsson and the Oredigger men's team is
Olleca Severson,
Abby Clark, and Naiya Bueadin finished in the top three places in the 100 meter hurdles. Clark also won the high jump putting her point total 28.
Tech also took the top three places in the triple jump with Beaudin winning followed by
Anika Ploeger and
Hailee Stiles.
Hailey Nielson and
Carlin Manning went 1-2 in the 10000 meter race.
The Tech men went 1-2 in the 10,000 meters and the high jump.
Edwin Kipainoi won the 10k followed by
Justin Morgan in second.
Payton Cates made 1.9 meters taking first and Bauer Seewald missed finishing in second.
The Orediggers had three place in the 110 meter hurdles led by
Morgan McClernan in second, Downey Holt in third, and
Eli Byrd in sixth.
Seewald has 22 total points taking third in the triple jump and fourth in the javelin.
John Pyron took fourth in the triple jump for the Orediggers.
Cade VanVleet won the hammer throw.
Colter Ball took second in the javelin.
