MISSOULA, Mont.- The Oredigger men finish in second place at the Al Manual Invitational, while the women end the day in fourth.
Montana Tech's men finished the day with three first-place finishes pushing their score total to 132, trailing only the Grizzlies of Montana. Carroll finishes in third, the Bobcats of MSU fourth, and Western rounds out the scoring in fifth.
On the women's side, the Orediggers post 33 points on the day, finishing in fourth. The Grizzlies win the event with 292, MSU second with 107, Carroll was third at 85, and Western puts up 4 points in fifth.
The women were paced by
Alyssa Jany's second-place finish in the 3000m Steeple. Â
Taleigh Adrian crossed the line in a time of 5:08.95 for the 1500m, which was good for third place on the day.
Abby Clark cleared 1.60m (5.03.00) in the women's high jump, that mark was good for fourth place.
Alyssa Plant finished fourth in the women's 5000m.
The Montana Tech men's 4x400 (C.Henke, I.Barville, M.McClernan, T.Christiansen) took home the gold in a time of 3:36.88.
Freshman
Nicolo Lancini, coming off an incredibly strong indoor season, was back on top of the podium for the triple jump. Nicolo went 14.23m (46-08.25) to take home first place, and fellow Oredigger
Skyler Peterson took second place in the event as well.
Morgan McClernan repeated as the 400m hurdles winner, the sophomore from Butte won the event last year as a freshman and repeated today. The Orediggers stacked the top of the podium, going 1,2, and 3. McCernan wins it,
Adam Schrader finishes second, and
Jacob Buckingham third.
Schrader finished second in the 110m hurdles, McClernan crossed in third.
Other great performances for the Orediggers were turned in by
Tucker Christiansen and
Carter Henke, finishing second and third respectively in the 400m.
Benjamin Zerr put in a strong 5000m, crossing in 15:12.19, which was good for second place.
Cade VanVleet continues to put up great numbers, finishing second in the discus, second in the shot put, and fifth in the hammer.
