HELENA, Mont.- Oredigger Cade VanVleet has once again been named Frontier Conference field athlete of the week.
VanVleet, a sophomore from Noxon, Mont. continues to add to his impressive start to the outdoor Track and Field season by winning the field athlete of the week, for the second week running. Last week it was for his performance in the discus, throwing 48.71m, hitting the NAIA B qualifying standard.
This week Cade won the discus at the Yellowjacket/Battlin' Bear Open in Lockwood with a throw of 48.63m (another NAIA B Standard throw), but he didn't stop there. He also got on the podium in the shot put with a throw of 15.32m, good for third place.
But again, his day wasn't done.
VanVleet was dominant in the hammer throw. The sophomore set a new PR, with a throw of 54.66m (179-04) which is an NAIA A standard throw (by over a full meter) His throw is the 8th-best in the country as of now.
Cade has now qualified for the National Meet in Marion, Indiana in both the Hammer Throw and the discus, with several more chances to better those numbers before the National Championships at the end of May.
