POCATELLO, Idaho -- The Montana Tech women's indoor track & field team knocked off two program records Friday and the men topped another en route to a strong showing at Idaho State University's Snake River Open.

For the Tech women, Kamryn Comba topped the Oredigger record in the 800-meter run, clocking in at 2:22.14, while Lily Sullivan set a new top mark in the weight throw with a 13.78-meter heave.

Freshman Jacob Dolezal collected 4,258 points in the men's heptathlon to knock over another program record.

It was all part of a strong early-season showing for Montana Tech. The women piled up five top-10 finishes in a field of mostly NCAA Division I student-athletes, while the Oredigger men totaled four top-10s of their own.

Outside of the record-setting performances, Rylee Armstrong's seventh-place result in the women's heptathlon highlighted the day. The sophomore compiled 3,071 points in the five-event gauntlet, the second-best total in Montana Tech history. Her best result came in the high jump, where she cleared 1.57m to take second place and set the second-best mark in program history. Armstrong also placed fourth in the long jump, leaping 5.23m.

Ayla Janzen also posted a runner-up finish, clearing 10.53m in the triple jump. Olleca Severson and Janzen took eighth and ninth, respectively, in the 60m hurdles, Severson clocking in at .03 seconds off her own program record in the event.

In the shot put, Madison Chappuis led the way with a 10.86m toss to better her own hold on the second-best mark in program history and finish 24th. Ava Epler moved up to third in program lord at 10.55m, Sullivan improved to fourth at 10.48m, and Emily McCalla checked in eighth on the Oredigger leaderboard at 9.93m.

Behind Sullivan's record-setting weight throw, Epler heaved 13.09m to move to second on the Tech leaderboard, and McCalla tossed 12.49m to land fourth.

Other collegiate bests included Cora Pesanti (8.04, tie-third in program history) and Grace Ekness (8.06, fifth) in the 60m dash, MaKenzie Sheils (60.95, third) and Peyton Walker (63.16, fourth) in the 400m, and Alyssa Plant (5:29.28, fifth) in the 1-mile.

On the men's side, Dolezal's sixth-place finish in the heptathlon highlighted the day. The freshman earned top-five finishes in the 60m hurdles, high jump, and long jump on his way to a record-breaking day. Evan Kinley also earned a top-10 finish in the multi event, taking ninth with 3,871 points.

Cade VanVleet heaved the shot 16.48m, just off his program-record mark set earlier this season but good enough for fourth place at the meet.

Ty Backen leapt to second in the triple jump with a 12.51m bound, putting him eighth on the Oredigger all-time leaderboard, while Hayden Falling's 14.58m weight throw put him 12th in the event and third all-time at Montana Tech.

The rest of the Montana Tech track & field program will compete Saturday at the Spokane Indoor Challenge.
