BUTTE -- Hadley Humpherys collected a double-double, Brooke Badovinac tied her career-high in scoring, and the Montana Tech women's basketball team topped No. 15-ranked Southern Oregon, 67-52, Friday afternoon to start the 2025-26 season in style. 

Badovinac scored 13 points to lead the way for the Orediggers (1-0), while Humpherys combined her 12 points with a team-best 10 rebounds in the winning effort. 

Southern Oregon (0-1) jumped out to a 9-3 lead to start the ballgame, but Tech quickly recovered. The Orediggers battled back to tie the game at 13, and the rest of the first period was a dogfight. The teams ended the first 10 minutes of the season tied, 15-all. 

Izzy Arave began the second with a 3-pointer for Tech, kicking off a 15-2 Oredigger run. Tech never again led by fewer than five. 

Badovinac scored nine of her 13 in the second half to help the Orediggers maintain the lead, and Tech's defense did the rest. The home team held SOU to a 10-for-33 shooting performance after halftime. 

Arave finished the game with nine points off the bench, going 3-for-3 from beyond the arc, while Liv Wangerin chipped in eight points and six rebounds for Tech. 

Eliza DiGiulio led all scorers with 19 points for Southern Oregon. 

Montana Tech, which received votes in the NAIA's preseason coaches' top 25, has won four of its last six home games against ranked opponents. 

The Orediggers will play host to College of Idaho Saturday evening at 5.
