BUTTE --Â Brooke Badovinac scored a career-high 15 points,
Hadley Humpherys booked her second-straight double-double, and the Montana Tech women's basketball team continued its winning start to the season with a 70-60 victory over College of Idaho inside Valley Bank Arena.Â
Hallie Neibauer also reached double figures for the Orediggers (2-0), scoring 13 points, while
Avery Carlson chipped in four points, 11 rebounds, and three assists.Â
While the first quarter was closely contested — Montana Tech led 13-11 after 10 minutes — Tech built a lead just before halftime with a 6-0 run. The Orediggers led 31-24 midway through.Â
In the third, the Yotes (0-1) battled back to tie the game at 34 before Montana Tech mounted another blitz. Tech scored the next nine points before CI rebounded with an 11-2 run of its own to match the score again at 43 Humpherys hit a layup with 12 seconds remaining in the third to give the Orediggers a lead with 10 minutes to play.Â
With CI leading early in the fourth, Badovinac knocked down back-to-back 3-pointers to put Tech ahead for good. The Yotes cut the lead to two with 4:12 to play, but Badovinac and Humpherys led Tech to an 8-0 run down the stretch that put the game on ice.Â
Montana Tech, which received votes in the NAIA's preseason coaches' poll, will look to move to 3-0 Thursday at Walla Walla.Â
