HELENA, Mont. -- The Frontier Conference again tabbed Montana Tech senior
Jadyn Vermillion as its women's indoor field athlete of the week, the league announced Tuesday afternoon.
The Myrtle Creek, Ore. product had another great showing over the weekend at the Whitworth Invitational, held at The Podium in Spokane, Wash.
She took second at the meet in the long jump Friday, covering 5.67 meters for her second-best jump of the season. On Saturday, Vermillion excelled on the track. The senior raced a collegiate-best 7.74-second 60m dash in semifinals to reach the championship heat and post the second-fastest time in program history. Vermillion followed that with a 7.78-second finals race, placing seventh in a loaded field.
Vermillion currently ranks fifth in the NAIA in the long jump, thanks to her 5.80m leap earlier this month at Idaho State that cemented a berth in the 2025 U.S. Marines NAIA Women's Indoor Track & Field Championship in Gainesville, Fla. at the end of this month. The NAIA will announce the full 2025 championship field Wednesday morning in a press release.
Vermillion and the Montana Tech team will head to Bozeman Thursday for the Big Sky Tuner, the final indoor regular-season meet of the year.
