GREAT FALLS, Mont. -- Call it a three-peat for Cade VanVleet

Montana Tech's star thrower remained the undisputed top men's hammer thrower in the Frontier Conference with his third-straight conference title in the event as the men's and women's hammer throws kicked off the 2025 Frontier Track & Field Championships Thursday at University of Providence.

The junior from Noxon also notched an NAIA national 'B' standard in the event with his 55.72-meter throw. That mark was a season-best for VanVleet and ranks 13th in the country. It was just shy of his Montana Tech record, set at last year's NAIA national meet.

He's now qualified for the championships in the hammer, shot put, and discus, notching 'A' standards in the latter two events.

Sophomore Hayden Fallang also added a point for the Oredigger men, taking sixth place. His sixth and final throw went the farthest, clearing 45.11m.

Freshman Lily Sullivan earned all-conference honors in the women's hammer, tossing 42.95m on her second throw of the day to reclaim the Montana Tech record in the event. Freshman Ava Epler came in sixth to earn a point in the Diggers' favor. She threw 41.96m.

The remainder of the 2025 Frontier Conference Track & Field Championships will take place Sunday and Monday at Helena's Vigilante Stadium. Action starts in the capital at 2:30 p.m. Sunday with the women's javelin. Track events begin at 4 p.m.
