SPOKANE, Wash. -- Montana Tech's track & field teams notched program records and NAIA qualifying standards Saturday in a successful trip to the Spokane Indoor Challenge.

Senior Jadyn Vermillion led the way for the Oredigger women, notching another NAIA 'A' qualifying standard in the long jump. Vermillion won the event with her 5.75-meter jump, her second-longest of the 2025-26 season. She currently holds the top long jump in the NAIA.

Vermillion was also terrific in the 200m dash, racing to 13th in the event with an indoor collegiate-best time of 26.24 seconds, which put her third on the Orediggers' all-time leaderboard in the event.

Sophomore Matthew Moreni set the pace for the Montana Tech men. The Helena native topped program records in the 200m and 400m dashes Saturday, finishing fifth in both races. His 21.83-second 200m was good enough for 34th on the NAIA's season leaderboard, while his 49.50-second 400m put him 41st on the performance list.

He wasn't the only Oredigger men's athlete to have a fantastic day. Junior Nicolo Lancini took runner-up honors in the triple jump with his own national-qualifying mark of 14.74m. Lancini's leap was just off his own program record and ranks eighth in the NAIA this season. The Italian was also third in the long jump, clearing 6.71m for the 63rd-best mark in the NAIA.

Senior Morgan McClernan just missed his own program record in the 60m hurdles, crossing the line fourth in 8.34 seconds. The Butte High product also took 11th in the 400m dash at 50.73, good enough for 11th in the race and fourth on the Montana Tech all-time performance list.

Junior Adam Schrader added a personal best in the 60m hurdles, covering the race in 8.42 seconds to take fifth.

Aside from Vermillion's great day on the women's side, graduate student Abby Clark was 12th in the 200m dash at 26.18 seconds, improving her hold on second in the program record. She ranks 92nd in the country. Clark also took seventh in the long jump, clearing 5.28m.

Ayla Janzen also had a huge day. The sophomore from Silver Star just missed a trio of personal bests. She was third in the triple jump at 10.53m, ninth in the 60m hurdles at 9.06 seconds (34th in the NAIA), and 12th in the 60m dash at 7.92 seconds.

Montana Tech's track & field teams will return to indoor-season competition January 23-24 at the University of Idaho's Lauren McCluskey Memorial.
