DILLON -- Halle Haber notched her second-career double-double, leading the No. 12-ranked Montana Tech women's basketball team to a 71-65 victory at Frontier Conference rival Montana Western Friday evening.
Haber totaled 17 points and 10 rebounds for the Orediggers (16-2, 12-2 Frontier), while
Liv Wangerin (14 points) and
Olivia Nielson (10) also scored in double figures for Tech. Hallie Niebauer and
Rachel Van Blaricom each scored nine for Tech.
Tech started the game on a 10-4 run, but the Bulldogs worked their way back in. Western (7-11, 5-9) cut the lead to 12-11, but Van Blaricom nailed a 3-pointer on the Orediggers' last possession of the opening quarter to make it a 15-11 lead 10 minutes in.
The Bulldogs tied the game early in the second and took their first lead since the opening minutes on a Bailee Sayler layup with 1:13 until halftime. Tech carried a 32-31 advantage into the half.
The two teams traded blows throughout the third and into the fourth quarter until Nielson's 3-pointer broke a 59-59 tie with 2:59 remaining and sparked a 7-0 Montana Tech run that sealed the win.
Isabella Lund led the Bulldogs with 18 points and seven assists.
Montana Tech's women hit the road again next weekend to take on archrival Carroll at 5 p.m. Friday, January 30 in Helena.
