BUTTE -- Asher Williams scored 21 points off the bench, Hayden Diekhans had a brush with a double-double, and the Montana Tech men's basketball team earned a 71-50 Senior Night win over Dakota State.
The Orediggers (19-7, 13-7 Frontier Conference) played stifling team defense all night, holding Dakota State to just 31.7 percent shooting from the field.
Williams was very efficient for Tech, sinking seven of 10 field-goal attempts and going 6-for-6 from the free throw line to lead all scorers.
Diekhans totaled 13 points, nine rebounds, four assists, and four steals as the reigning conference player of the year facilitated the offense. Brayden Koch also reached double-figures with 12 points.
The Orediggers led wire-to-wire in the win, beginning the game on a 7-0 run and never looking back. An 8-0 run late in the first half extended the lead to double digits, and Tech led 37-23 at the half.
Williams and Ethan Venema scored eight points each to help extend the lead in the second half.
Lukas Morgan set the pace for DSU (16-9, 11-9) with 15 points and seven rebounds.
Montana Tech will head to MSU-Northern and Providence next Friday and Saturday, respectively, to wrap up the regular season. Both games will start at 7 p.m.
