BUTTE -- Four Orediggers reached double-figure scoring as the No. 13-ranked Montana Tech women's basketball team cruised by visiting Dickinson State Friday night inside Valley Bank Arena.
Halle Haber,
Kylie Konen, and
Liv Wangerin scored 12 points apiece to lead the way for Montana Tech (17-4, 13-4 Frontier Conference).
Brooke Badovinac added 11 points, and Haber grabbed a game-high eight rebounds.
Dickinson State (6-15, 4-13) started off strong, taking a 12-8 lead into the midpoint of the first period. The Orediggers rattled off an 8-0 run to respond, capped off by a Badovinac 3-pointer. Tech led 18-16 after one.
The Orediggers caught fire in the second. Tech shot 10-for-18 from the field in the quarter, led by a pair of
Rachel Van Blaricom 3s, and carried a 43-26 lead into the locker room.
Konen helped Montana Tech retain its advantage after halftime; the freshman scored 10 of her 12 points in the third and fourth quarters.
Dickinson State got a team-high 11 points from Ava Robinson off the bench.
Montana Tech athletics celebrated Valley Bank Night prior to and during the game, showcasing the newly installed Daktronics video board and digital courtside tables made possible by Valley Bank's generous community partnership.
With the win and Rocky Mountain's loss to Dakota State Friday, the Oredigger women moved into sole possession of third place in the Frontier standings. Tech will have a chance to climb farther up the ladder Saturday with a win over Bismarck State. Tip on Kelvin Sampson Court is scheduled for 5 p.m.
