HELENA -- For the second time in the outdoor season and the third overall, Montana Tech's
Morgan McClernan laid claim to the Erck Hotels/Frontier Conference men's track athlete of the week award, the conference office announced Tuesday.
It was a busy week for the senior from Butte. He started with a runner-up finish in the 110-meter hurdles at the Whitworth Peace Meet in Spokane, Wash. Friday, racing his third NAIA 'B' standard time of the season at 14.46 seconds.
McClernan also teamed up with
Jaxon Allery,
Matthew Moreni, and
Zach Merrifield to run the second-fastest 4x100m relay in Oredigger history, finishing third at 41.58 seconds.
On Saturday, he returned home to win the 400m hurdles in a career-best 52.70 seconds at the first installment of the Montana Tech Spring Series. That time bested his own program record in the race and reached the national 'B' standard.
McClernan currently ranks fifth in the NAIA in the 110m hurdles and eighth in the 400m hurdles. The relay time is 27th on the national leaderboard.
He and the Oredigger track & field teams will remain home again this weekend for the second installment of the Montana Tech Spring Series. Action on the Charlie Merrifield Track at East Middle School begins at 11 a.m. Saturday.
