HELENA -- Madison Biery continued to have the hottest hand in NAIA volleyball last week. It earned her the Erck Hotels/Frontier Conference offensive player of the week award Monday.
A junior middle hitter from Boise, Idaho, Biery hit .510 and recorded double-digit kills in all three of the Orediggers' matches last week.
Biery began her bang-up week in Wednesday's victory over Montana Western that came in four sets. She hit .467 with 10 kills in the win over the Bulldogs.
She followed that up Friday with 11 kills and five blocks, hitting .391 in Montana Tech's four-set victory over Bismarck State. Then, Saturday, Biery put down another 10 kills and two blocks, hitting .769 as the Orediggers swept Dickinson State. It was her third match of the season hitting better than .750.
Biery currently leads the NAIA in hitting percentage through 11 matches this season, finding the other side of the net at a .485 clip. Her 33 blocks also lead the Montana Tech team, and she ranks third on the squad with 100 kills.
The weekly award is the second of her season and career.
After the three-match homestand, Montana Tech will again hit the road this week for a pair of Frontier Conference matches. The Orediggers pay a visit to No. 19 Bellevue on Thursday before trekking to Dakota State for a Saturday matchup.
