Box Score Butte-A late run by the Lady Diggers would fall just short as they lose to Rocky 72-67.
Rocky improves to (14-6) on the season and (4-2) in the Frontier Conference. After winning three straight, Tech moves to (8-10) overall and (3-3) in the Frontier.
Rocky shot 41% from the field in the first half taking a 34-22 lead into the break. Tech only hit 29% of their field goals in the first frame.
Center Jillian Stanek lead the Bears in the first half with eight points.
Kelsey DeWit had eight points and three rebounds in the first half.
In the second half, Tech would work their way back into the game after being down by as many as 18. With 5:17 on the clock,
Erika Jenkins hit a three-pointer to come within five of the Bears. Rocky would start to pull away but Tech stayed with them down the stretch. With 1:07 to go,
Mandy Machinal would hit a three-pointer to pull within two at 68-66. This would be as close as Tech could get to the Bears falling by a final score of 72-67.
Rocky hit 44% of their shots in the second half and 42% on the night.
The Lady Diggers found their shot in the second half hitting 59% from the field and 8 of 10 three pointers in the second half. They shot 44% from the field and 61% from beyond the arc.
Austin Hanser lead the Bears with 18 points, eight rebounds and four assists.
Micki Scally had 15 points for the Bears. She added five rebounds and three assists to her night's totals.
DeWit lead the Lady Diggers with 18 points. She also had eight rebounds, three assists and a blocked shot.
Brianne McClafferty had 14 points off the bench and shot 4 of 5 from three-point range.
Mandy Machinal had 13 points, two rebounds and two assists.
The Lady Diggers are home again tomorrow night. They face off against the Carroll College Saints at 5:30 pm at Kelvin Sampson Court.
