GREENWOOD, Ind. -- Montana Tech's women's basketball program saw four players garner Academic All-District accolades, presented by College Sports Communicators, the organization announced Tuesday.
Senior
Liv Wangerin, juniors
Avery Carlson and
Olivia Nielson, and sophomore
Halle Haber all earned the honor.
Student-athletes must carry a 3.5-or-better cumulative GPA, appear in 90 percent of her team's games, and be a sophomore or above to be eligible for Academic All-District awards. A committee of CSC membership then reviews the honorees to advance a select number to the Academic All-America ballot; Wangerin was one of those selected.
Wangerin, an exercise and health science major from Plentywood, started all 31 games for the Frontier Conference tournament champions. She led the team in minutes played with 853, averaging 11.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game in her senior campaign on her way for first-team All-Frontier Conference and Frontier all-tournament team accolades. She carries a perfect 4.0 GPA. It was the second time in her career that Wangerin earned Academic All-District honors.
Carlson, a biological sciences major from Havre, ran the point for the Orediggers, starting all 31 ballgames. She averaged 5.3 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game and was second on the team with 42 steals. Carlson also holds a perfect 4.0 GPA.
Nielson, a civil engineering major from Kemmerer, Wyo., returned from injury to excel in a reserve role in the Tech frontcourt. She played in all 31 ballgames, making five starts, and averaged 6.4 points and 3.2 rebounds. The transfer from Utah State-Eastern maintains a 3.90 GPA.
Haber, a business and information technology major from Billings, excelled in her second collegiate season, leading the Orediggers in scoring with 369 points and offensive rebounds with 69. She averaged 11.9 points and 5.4 rebounds per game overall, adding 51 assists, 22 steals, and 19 blocked shots. She carries a 3.88 GPA.
The Orediggers' four honorees tied for the most among Frontier Conference schools.
Montana Tech enjoyed a banner season in 2025-26, winning the program's first-ever NAIA tournament game and capturing the first conference tournament championship since 1983. The Orediggers finished at 26-5, a program record for wins in a season.
The Academic All-District women's basketball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. Started in 1952, the CSC Academic All-America program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA. The NAIA CSC Academic All-America program is partially financially supported through the NAIA governance structure.
CSC will announce its Academic All-America women's basketball teams April 15.
