LC State Slips by Tech

Box Score Butte-Tech was able to contain the Warriors Saturday night at Kelvin Sampson Court, but couldn't hold on at the end of the second half. Lewis-Clark used 23 free throw opportunities to Tech's five to slip past the Orediggers 66-59.

Montana Tech falls to (1-1) in the Frontier Conference and (9-4) overall. Lewis-Clark State College improves to (1-1) in Frontier action and (11-5) overall.

Montana Tech held LC State to 31% shooting in the first half and took a 29-34 lead into the break. The Orediggers were shooting well again downing 52% of their shots from the field and 46% from beyond the arc.

As LC State heated up at the beginning of the second half, Tech began to cool. With 14:33 to go in the half, LC State took the lead at 40-39. Tech would trail the rest of the game and fall by a final score of 66-59. LC State hit 9 of their 14 free throws attempts in the second half as Tech hit 2 of 3.

Junior forward PJ Bolte would lead the Warriors in scoring with 19 and had seven rebounds  and two assists. Bolte shot 6 of 9 from the field.

Freshman Adam Greger led the Diggers with 14 points. Although 9 of his 14 points came in the first half, LC State shut down Greger for the final sixteen minutes of the game. Greger pulled down four rebounds as well.

Brian Cummings had a hot hand again shooting 4 of 5 from the field for 11 points. Cummings added four rebounds and three steals to his night's totals. Cummings only had two points in the second half.

Dan Simon was the lone Oredigger who was able to score in the second half. The junior transfer had all ten of his points shooting 5 of 9 from the field.

Montana Tech is on the road next weekend when they take on MSU-Northern in Havre next Friday before traveling to Great Falls on Saturday. The game can be viewed at www.godiggers.com.
