Diggers Lose in Final Minute to Yotes

CALDWELL, Idaho – Katelin Shannon broke a tie with a driving lay-up with 19 seconds remaining and sealed the game with a steal and two free throws, as The College of Idaho opened the season with a 68-64 victory over Montana Tech in the J.A. Albertson Activities Center.
 
The Diggers (2-2) lose their second game in a row and go 0-2 on their Idaho road trip.
 
Tech lost despite shooting despite shooting 46-percent from the field.
 
Kelsey DeWit had a double-double with 24 points and 10 rebounds.
 
Laini Kalumbi had 13 points and eight rebounds.
 
Dannii Devenny had eight points and eight rebounds.
 
Chakala Carthen had 20 points and 10 rebounds in her debut for the No. 25 ranked Lady Yotes (1-0), with Dayna Drager adding 17 as The C of I forced 23 turnovers.
 
Montana Tech is in Spokane for the Cascade/Frontier Conference Challenge next weekend.
