SALT LAKE CITY – Both teams had a hot hand shooting, but the Lady Diggers had the high score at the end of the game moving past the College of Idaho Yotes 71-68.
Montana Tech (2-1) improves their early season record after losing to defending national champ Westmont last night.
The College of Idaho (0-4) is still looking for their first win of the season.
Both squads shot over 40-percent for the game including strong shooting from three-point range. The Yotes completed 10 threes shooting 41.7-percent from long. Tech made eight treys and shot 44.4-percent.
Junior
Mandy Machinal led the way for Tech with 19 points on 6 of 13 shooting. Machinal hit 2 of 3 from beyond the arc and 5 of 8 from the free throw line. She also had six rebounds and two assists.
Kelsey DeWit went 6 of 10 in the game finishing with 14 points, five rebounds and a block.
Kabri Emerson was a perfect 4 of 4 in the game also making one three and 4 of 4 from the free throw line. She finished the game with 13 points and six rebounds.
Sophia Baetz went 4 of 6 from long finishing with 12 points.
Elisha Hensey led the Yotes with 23 points and nine rebounds.
Erica Martinez shot 6 of 10 from three for 18 points.
Montana Tech starts a long road trip to Oregon and Washington next week.
