BUTTE – A last second Dannii Devenny bucket sealed the win for the Lady Diggers 68-66 over Lewis-Clark State. Devenny was responsible for a steal and the final four points for the Tech victory.
The Diggers came into the final seven minutes down by just two points. With both teams slowly adding to their totals, including three ties, the Diggers would finally pull ahead 64-62 on a two-pointer by
Brynne Kambich with 2:12 to go in the game.
Ornela Bacchini would tie the game again at 64 for the Warriors with 1:57 to play.
Mandy Machinal would miss a shot on the next possession, but Devenny would steal the ball from Bacchini and get fouled on the shooting attempt. Devenny would hit both free throws to give Tech a 66-64 advantage with just 46 seconds on the clock.
Tani Fuller would get fouled for the Warriors on the next possession and make both of her attempts and a 66-66 tie. This was the eleventh tie of the game.
Devenny would hit from 12 feet out with just four seconds left in the game and the victory.
In the game, Devenny would finish with 17 points, six rebounds, four steals and three assists. The Australian hit 6 of 10 from the field and was a perfect 2 of 2 from beyond the arc and 3 for 4 from the line.
Senior
Erika Jenkins had her first career double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Kambich finished with 16 points, seven rebounds and five assists in the game.
Machinal was the fourth Digger with double-digit scoring netting 16. She also had five rebounds and four assists.
Bacchini led the Warriors with 17 points, three steals and two rebounds.
The Warriors had four total players in double figures. Loree Hill had 16, Fuller finished with 14 and Annie Kane had 13 points. Fuller completed a double-double adding 11 rebounds to her totals.
Montana Tech is home again next weekend. The Lady Diggers host Rocky Mountain College on Thursday.
