Coates, Engstrom Named All-Conference

WHITEFISH, Mont. – The Frontier announced the Frontier All-Conference Team today. Montana Tech's Jalen Coates was selected second team and Paul Engstrom was named honorable mention.

Coates, a 5-9 guard from Sacramento, Calif., finished his first season with the Orediggers.  He finished second in the conference in scoring totaling 567 points with an 18.9 points per game average. The sophomore transfer finished the year shooting 46 percent from the field and 34.5 percent from beyond the arc. He also led the conference in steals per game with 1.97 per contest.

Engstrom, a 6-7 senior forward, led the Orediggers in rebounding (6.8) and blocks (1.0) this season. The Medicine Lake, Mont. native recorded six double-doubles this season and finished averaging 13.2 points per game. He shot 55 percent from the field and 74.7 percent from the free throw line.

Lewis-Clark State's Brandon Rinta was selected as Coach of the Year. Junior forward Jacob Wiley was named the Frontier Player of the Year. The Warrior's junior transfer guard Doug McDaniel was named Newcomer and Sixth Man of the Year.

Rocky Mountain's senior Ben Moerkerke was selected Defensive Player of the Year. Carroll College freshman Match Burnham was named Freshman of the Year.

Lewis-Clark led all teams with four total on the list.
