Box Score BUTTE—Montana Tech won their second game against a NAIA top-25 team defeating Carroll College 66-55 at Kelvin Sampson Court Thursday night.
The same night the Diggers honored
Martha Dembek for hitting the 1,000 career point mark, the senior from Winnett, Montana poured in a game-high 20 points on 6-of-12 shooting from the floor. Dembek was a perfect 7-for-7 from the charity stripe and recorded a game-high eight rebounds in the victory. Dembek has now scored 20 points or more in her last three games.
Montana Tech trailed the Saints by just two points after the first quarter but outscored Carroll College 17-13 in the second quarter.
Hattie Thatcher added eight points, five rebounds, and five assists in a great all-around performance.
The Orediggers started the game shooting just 26 percent from the floor in the first four minutes but got back in stride to shoot 43 percent for the contest. In addition to shooting well from the floor the Diggers turned in another impressive night at the charity stripe going 18-for-22.
Defensively, Montana Tech was able to limit Carroll to just eight second chance points and forced the Saints who usually feature a number of players in double figures to only two double-digit performers. Cassidy Hashley led the way for the Saints scoring 18 points while Bailey Pasta chipped in 15. Montana Tech limited Hashley, who averages a double-double, to just 7-for-19 shooting and only five rebounds.

Potter, along with
Kaylynn Coverdell and
Hattie Thatcher each scored eight points while
Rachel Farris chipped in seven.
Monica Landdeck and
Callee Remsen tallied three and two points on the night for Montana Tech.
The Diggers improve to 8-9 overall and 3-3 in Frontier Conference action with a pair of wins over nationally ranked teams. The Diggers are now 2-1 at home in conference play. The 3-3 start to conference is Montana Tech's best start in Coach
