HAVRE, Mont- The Montana Tech women's basketball team struggled to score in the opening quarters against the Skylights falling 59-55 in overtime on Saturday night.
The Orediggers opened up the contest on a 8-4 run thanks to a quick five points from Mesa Williams, but the Skylights hit a three at the buzzer of the first quarter to stop the Tech momentum and jumped out on a 7-0 run to start the second.
The Diggers trailed 27-16 at the half.
A couple of Mesa Williams triples pulled the Diggers within six, 39-33, with 6:07 left to play.
Making their run and tying it up against MSU-Northern on a Tjaden Pallister post-up with inside a minute to play, the Diggers ties the game up at 49-49 to force overtime.
Trailing 55-53, Mollie Peoples hit a circus layup to tie the contest again with one minute to play before Tiara Gilham hit a three to give Northern the lead with 32 seconds left.
Montana Tech returns to action against Carroll College next Tuesday evening in Helena.
