Frontier Conference Announces Preseason Coaches Poll

WHITEFISH, Mont. – The Montana Tech men's and women's basketball teams were picked to finish fifth and seventh respectively in the Frontier Conference Preseason Coaches Polls.
 
The Oredigger men's basketball team was voted to finish fifth in the conference behind preseason favorite University of Providence who garnered four first place votes while MSU-Northern was second with three first place votes.
 
Votes were six points for first, five points for second, four points for third, three points for fourth, two points for fifth and one point for sixth. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own team.
 
Montana Tech Men's basketball team finished the 2018-19 season with a 17-15 overall record and a 6-12 conference record. Montana Tech's six Frontier Conference victories was the most for the program since the 2014-15 season. The Diggers also won their first postseason game since the 1998-99 season when they defeated Rocky Mountain College 70-59 in Billings in the first round of the Frontier Conference Playoffs.
 
The Montana Tech women's basketball team was picked to finish seventh in the Frontier Conference by the coaches.
 
Carroll College is picked to win the 2019-20 league title and received six of the seven first place votes followed by Rocky Mountain College, University of Providence, Lewis-Clark State, Montana Western, MSU-Northern, and Montana Tech.
 
Montana Tech finished the 2018-19 season with a 13-17 overall record.
